Finding a company name that encompasses what we are about is never easy so we decided to focus on roots and the individuality and originality of people as well as our country, Tanzania. We hope you will come to find that our ethos is based around bringing people experiences in sustainable tourism, community awareness and personal understanding.  Ultimately we want you to absorb a truly original experience because, as they say, once you have been to Africa, it never quite leaves your imagination!

“Original Tanzania” also emphasises that Tanzanian National Parks have been carefully preserved to keep them in their original boundaries.  Unlike some other National Parks areas, the land is not sectioned off to ‘keep’ its wildlife within certain boundaries.  In Tanzania the wildlife are free and act as they would, according to nature. We could promise you will always see the ‘Big Five’ (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant) but we’d rather explain their natural behaviour and help you understand that nature needs time.  This is why Original Tanzania considers its itineraries in line with ‘pole pole’ (slowly slowly) in order to give nature your time.  Years of experience have shown us the unexpected secret life of amazing wildlife if we give it time and respect.

We also pride ourselves in promoting the ‘small five’ which play a vital role in the wildlife ecosystem.  Simply put, there couldn’t be a ‘big five’ without a ‘small five’!  These are… the Leopard Tortoise, Elephant Shrew, Rhinoceros Beetle, Ant Lion and Buffalo Weaver.  On tour with our trained, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides, you will become an eco warrior before you know it!

We also seek to highlight the culture of Tanzania because its people offer the chance to understand real traditions, roots and preservation of beliefs.  The colourfulness of the country is hard to describe and it comes in the form of clothes, landscapes, sunsets, the skyline, food markets and complete contrasts from sand to ocean, to snow capped mountain tops and red earth.  It is an original experience which is why our name ‘Original Tanzania’ seeks to encompass everything.  When asking visitors to the country to summarise their experience in Tanzania, words used were: “Lively / Vital”, “Impressive”, “Amazing Scenery”, “Animating all your senses”, “Exotic”, “Outstanding”, “Thrilling” and “Exciting”.

Our approach to volunteering is also entirely different because the term itself in “developing” countries has become something close to being a profitable industry surrounding other peoples’ lives and perceived ‘lacking’.  Our experience shows more of mutual gain and understanding, emphasising the need for useful, sustained involvement of skill exchange and commitment.  As said by Mark Twain “travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow mindedness”.  We want to help encourage people to become true global citizens and discover reality for themselves. You can also read about our Values and Inspiration.

Come and meet the team and also start your visual journey through Tanzania. You will find we are also recently (December 2014) represented on www.safaribookings.com where you can also find useful country information and look at reviews.

Importantly, we have provided a form for you to personalize.  This is where you can give us your ideas on what you are looking for, even if it is a slight adaptation from some of our suggestions.  Please do contact us before thinking you haven’t found what you are looking for or are afraid to ask. This helps us to make Tanzania Original For You.
